PRP FOR PEYRONIE’S DISEASE
Domande frequenti (FAQ)
Peyronie’s disease, or Induratio Penis Plastica (IPP), is a condition that causes the penis to curve during an erection due to fibrous scar tissue (plaque) forming in the tunica albuginea, the covering of the corpora cavernosa. The plaque may cause pain, deformity, loss of length and girth, and erectile dysfunction. The causes are not fully known, but the leading theory is that repeated, unnoticed microtrauma triggers inflammation.
PRP treatment for Peyronie’s disease involves injecting a concentrate of the patient’s own platelets into the penile plaque to stimulate tissue regeneration, improve elasticity and reduce penile curvature and fibrosis. The treatment requires multiple sessions and may improve erectile function and reduce pain. It is described as a minimally invasive and safe option.
The PRP treatment procedure for Peyronie’s disease is as follows:- Specialist consultation- Complete blood count- PRP injections
The stated effectiveness of PRP treatment for Peyronie’s disease is closely linked to the platelet concentrate being injected directly into the plaque, where it is said to stimulate regeneration in the penile vascular system and reduce curvature by reducing the plaque. These results are described as confirmed by numerous studies of patients with Peyronie’s disease who improved with injections and use of an andrological vacuum device.
PRP treatment has no significant adverse effects or contraindications. This therapy is approved by the Italian Ministry of Health, provided it is performed by recognised doctors at authorised facilities.
The protocol includes six injections, each costing €300.00.
